Keep calm and review the basics
Arriving at the airport and seeing that your eSIM won't connect can be frustrating. In 95% of cases, the solution is a matter of pressing a couple of buttons in the settings. Follow this checklist to fix your problem in seconds.
1. Did you activate Data Roaming?
This is mistake number one. Travel eSIMs work by “borrowing” local networks, which is technically roaming. Go to the travel-specific eSIM settings and turn on Data Roaming (or Roaming). Don't worry, you won't be charged extra because your eSIM plan is already prepaid.
2. Did you select the eSIM for Mobile Data?
If your phone has dual SIM, be sure to tell it that you want to use the new eSIM to browse the internet. Go to Cellular Networks > Cellular Data (Mobile Data) and choose your new travel line.
3. Restart your device (Airplane Mode)
Sometimes the phone needs a push to register on the foreign network. Put your phone in Airplane Mode for 30 seconds and then remove it. This will force the device to search for new cellular antennas and try to connect again.
4. Check the APN (Access Point Name)
In very rare cases, your phone does not detect the APN automatically. Review the instructions your eSIM provider gave you when purchasing. If they indicate an APN name (for example: "globaldata" or "internet"), you must enter it manually in your cellular plan settings under "Cellular data network".
5. Manual network selection
Sometimes the automatic network chooses an operator without signal. Enter the eSIM network options, turn off "Automatic selection" and choose one of the operators recommended by your eSIM provider from the list.
